On October 17th, multiple Kennesaw PRSSA e-board members were given the exciting opportunity to visit and tour the Weber Shandwick Atlanta offices!
Weber Shandwick is a communications and marketing agency that works in sectors such as food and beverage, health, and government and public, just to name a few. Its offices spread across 59 cities, with networks extending to 113 cities. In addition, Weber Shandwick has worked with many high-profile clients and brands, including Pop-Tarts, TRESemmé, eBay, and many more.
On this tour, our executive board members, along with students from the University of Georgia, Auburn University, and The University of South Carolina, were able to hear from associates what the agency-side of PR work is like, and what a typical workday looks like at WS.
A number of Weber Shandwick employees ranging from customer experience, consumer and corporate PR, media relations, and influencer strategy gave presentations on their specialties. In these presentations, the employees posed many questions that got the board members and other attendees thinking. For example, a question posed in the presentation given on consumer PR by the wonderful Alexa Amster and Sierra Martin was “How can we plug in brands on trends authentically?” The presentations sparked conversation among attendees and yielded even more questions concerning work-life balance, client questions, etc.
Towards the end of the presentation, Weber Shandwick opened the floor for a Q&A session. This Q&A consisted of a panel of Weber Shandwick employees who were ready and eager to answer any questions the attendees had. Many of the questions revolved around resume concerns, as well as internship and work opportunities. The Weber Shandwick employees were kind enough to bestow some wisdom and encouragement to the room full of soon-to-be college graduates, telling us that we are all on our own journey and there is no need to “feel behind” if our job search is not yielding results. The opportunity to visit the Weber Shandwick office and learn from current employees working in the PR profession is an experience the Kennesaw e-board members will never forget and will forever be grateful for.
